Discover The Salvation Army’s Tustin Ranch Corps band!

May 12, 2023

Music is a top priority in the lives and worship of The Salvation Army members. Have you heard the Salvation Army’s Tustin Ranch Corps Band? This band has been around for over 30 years and seeing them play is an inspirational and enjoyable experience.

Under the direction of Neil Smith, who is also the Territorial Music Secretary for The Salvation Army USA West Territory, the band supports the congregation at worship each week as well as many Salvation Army and civic events. Among other events, last year the band:

  • Played for Christmas Kettles in Tustin periodically over five weeks in December;

  • Participated in the Anaheim Emergency Shelter for their Christmas Tree Lighting event;

  • Provided music at the Anaheim Convention Center – Families First Christmas Event – in support of 20,000 families;

  • Provided support for The Welcome of Cadets in the fall; and

  • Played at the Balboa Island Fire Station Tree Lighting alongside the All American Boys Choir.

Who can participate?

Like most Salvation Army Bands, the Tustin Ranch Corps band is multigenerational and a wonderful opportunity to participate with your siblings, parents, grandparents etc in the same group. They are all members of The Salvation Army Tustin Ranch Corps and call this fellowship their church home. Currently the Tustin Ranch Corps Band has 24 members as young as 17 and as seasoned as 82.

The band has 24 regular members who attend very regularly and serve well. It is made up of Salvation Army Officers, Salvation Army employees, a software company CEO, students – two currently at UCLA, healthcare workers, professional musicians, more teachers, a sound engineer, teachers, retirees, insurance sales, medical professionals – all who volunteer their time – no one is paid as a member of the band.
