Three Reasons to Attend Night for Others!
If you have been to Night for Others in years past, you know that the evening is a night to celebrate others. It is a way to share our gifts with those less fortunate while enjoying the company of friends and reveling in our Lord's blessings. If you haven't yet, attend this year and see what you've been missing.
Here are three reasons to attend:
- Hear amazing stories of recovery, building relationships with God, and achieving self-sufficiency. We celebrate the individuals that have utilized The Salvation Army Orange County’s services to regain control of their lives and allowed us to be a part of their journey.
- Laugh with entertainer James Corden, actor, comedian, talk show host, and writer. Did you know that Corden was raised in The Salvation Army Church? I'm sure he'll talk about that during his set.
- Be a part of the auction where are you can help The Salvation Army Orange County transform lives and also plan a fabulous vacation to somewhere like Las Vegas, Europe, the East Coast, or maybe the Caribbean. Or how about a fabulous staycation in Laguna Beach?
Why is it called “Night for Others”?
The name of our annual gala comes from an event in 1910. General William Booth, Founder of The Salvation Army, was to address a large audience of Salvation Army staff, but was unable to attend due to his health issues, so he sent a telegram to be read out.
To everyone’s surprise, the telegram only contained one word—“others”.
The crowd was amazed that he didn’t say more. But you see, William Booth understood what was the most profound message he could use to stir and inspire those in The Salvation Army.
That single word captured the foundation of our mission, and with this in mind—we look forward to celebrating with you at Night for Others 2024.
