Paws and Applause: Celebrating Our Pet of the Month
Meet Wolfey
Today we shine a spotlight on a special furry friend that has captured our heart, and celebrate the unique charm, loyalty, and joy that pets bring into our lives. Whether they have a heartwarming adoption story, a quirky personality trait, or simply an irresistible cuteness factor, we love our pets.
Wolfey, this month's Pet of the Month, is a beloved member of the Anaheim Emergency Shelter community.
Wolfey is a husky a breed known for its piercing eyes and thick fur. Despite their wolf-like appearance they are friendly, social, and outgoing dogs. They often display affection to both their owners and to strangers. Sunny, a guest rebuilding his life after domestic violence, met Wolfey as a stray and instantly recognized that his gentle demeanor would make them a perfect pair. Sunny was determined to give them both a better life and enlisted the support of our Anaheim Emergency Shelter to achieve that goal.
A Taste of Victory
Anaheim Emergency Shelter guests nominate a pet and owner duo who exemplify responsible pet ownership, adherence to guidelines, and resilience in the face of adversity, and this month the prize went to Wolfey and his owner Sunny.
As a winner of our Pet of the Month, Wolfey was awarded a gift basket full of treats and goodies for both himself and his owner. The basket helps to incentivize good behavior from our pets which in turn makes the shelter a more peaceful place.
By allowing pets to remain with their owners at our Anaheim Emergency Shelter, we reduce reluctance to access shelter services. Interacting with pets not only lowers stress levels but also enhances the overall mental and physical health of our residents. Celebrated this month for their bond, courage, and the transformative impact of their companionship, Sunny and Wolfey are an inspiring symbol of hope and perseverance.
