National Salvation Army Week

May 17, 2025

National Salvation Army Week is here! This year, it falls on the week after Mother’s Day as declared by 34th U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower in 1954. This week is celebrated nationwide and highlights our volunteers, donors, staff, and services.

At The Salvation Army Orange County, our staff carry out the mission not just by helping run various programs, but doing so with a heart full of dedication and love.

Here is the impact of some of our key programs:

  • The Center of Hope includes the Anaheim Emergency Shelter with 325 beds, 72 Permanent Supportive Housing units, and wraparound services and research center at the Center for Applied Research and Innovation, alongside the Adult Rehabilitation Center for drug and alcohol rehabilitation. In 2024, the Anaheim Emergency Shelter provided 154,000 nights of shelter and helped 120 individuals secure stable housing.

  • Our Anti-Trafficking Services team provides trauma-informed care for survivors of sex and labor trafficking. This includes immediate safety, housing, medical care, essential resources, and over 5,500 case management sessions in 2024.

  • The Anaheim Red Shield’s self-shopping food pantry serves over 400 families monthly, helping to ensure access to nutritious meals during times of need.

  • Our Creative Arts & Music Program provides both group lessons through the Freer Forte Music Program and private lessons for piano, voice, guitars, drums, bass, violin, ukulele, and mandolin.

  • Our Emergency Disaster Services teams respond swiftly during natural disasters, transportation accidents, civil unrest, and terrorist attacks. We provide on-site support with beverages, meals, and emotional and spiritual care for both first responders and survivors.

  •

To our volunteers, donors and staff: we would not be able to continue our work without your partnership. You play a vital role in everything that The Salvation Army does. Together, we will continue to spread hope and reach the lives of those who need it most here in Orange County.

“You are not here in the world for yourself. You have been sent here for others. The world is waiting for you!”  - Catherine Booth
