Fun, Food, and Wrapping

Dec 21, 2023

This week three members of The Salvation Army Orange County team met with Lynn Freer, a volunteer, and Leahann Miller from Bloomingdale’s for a fun gourmet dinner and gift wrapping to benefit the clients in our anti-trafficking homes.

Each year, Lynn combs the Internet for Christmas gifts for each member of the homes. Gifts include sleepwear, clothing, gift cards, and candy. Leahann provides a wonderful beauty gift provided by Bloomingdale’s, along with her own personal contributions.

But Lynn says she is a terrible wrapper, so thankfully Salvation Army staff members Lauren Steyer, Jane Yi, and Morgan Guzman came to Lynn’s to help out. After wrapping they enjoyed a dinner topped off with white chocolate macadamia nut crème brulee for dessert while reflecting on the joy of giving.

The Salvation Army Orange County’s anti-trafficking program is the only emergency shelter that takes in victims of sex and labor trafficking. The shelter helps them with medical care, legal needs, education, and job placement, along with other assistance needed to help them successfully evade their traffickers and reintegrate into the community.

According to Lynn, “We are blessed to give in the Lord’s name to His people. It’s so much more joyful to give than to receive. I encourage you to send a donation earmarked for the OC Salvation Army’s anti trafficking program.”
