State cutting CalFresh payments: Salvation Army OC can help

Feb 3, 2023

At a time of increasing food prices, the State of California has announced that the CalFresh Emergency Allotments will no longer be available beginning with the April 1 payment. Recipients will still receive their normal CalFresh allotment, but the additional emergency allotment will cease because that federal program has been eliminated.

Salvation Army OC to the rescue!

The Salvation Army Orange County has a food pantry in Anaheim that will help those affected to obtain food.

The food pantry is at the Anaheim Red Shield from 1pm to 3pm every Tuesday and Thursday. Visitors go through a drive-through to receive food boxes and then from 2:00 to 3:00 pm they have the opportunity to choose from a spread of fresh produce. This Orange County Salvation Army program offers a variety of nutritious food including meat, bread, canned food, healthy snacks, veggies, and grains for 200+ families each week. Here's a fun video about the pantry: What's in our food box?

Help us help those in need

As we know the demand for food will be much greater due to this loss in government help, we ask for help. Please donate whatever you can to help a family. Your donations will go directly to fund food supplies for families affected by food insecurity.
