"CARI" for the homeless
We look forward to the the mid-2025 groundbreaking of CARI: the “first-in-the world” Salvation Army Center for Applied Research and Innovation. The CARI facility will be on the same campus as the Center of Hope but on land owned by the Salvation Army and will expand the homeless services of the Center of Hope.
Center of Hope
The Center of Hope is a 14-acre campus that includes the new 72-unit “Pathways” apartments for the homeless that is now fully operational. The Center of Hope transitions individuals from life on the streets to a life of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual stability. We currently house 70 individuals in the Pathways apartments and another 315 individuals at the Emergency Shelter.
This program currently operates with Orange County and the City of Anaheim and was developed with funding by donors and certain government agencies.
But CARI takes it up a giant step forward. And it is not government funded.
CARI (Center for Applied Research and Innovation)
CARI is a 28,000 square foot building that among other things will include a:
- 300 seat worship, music, and arts building;
- Medical building; and
- Centralized case management system.
Completion is estimated to be 12 to 15 months from groundbreaking.
The project is located on a 14-acre campus that is owned by the Salvation Army and has no government funding. This means that the SalvationArmy can include worship and religious services to the clients. Because of the religious component no government funding may be used to build the CARI facility.
Night for Others
Let’s combine a gala celebration and supporting this revolutionary program by attending the Night for Others. All profits from Night for Others will go to the groundbreaking of the Center for Applied Research and Innovation.
This year’s gala is hosted by James Corden, English actor, comedian, singer, writer, producer, and former television host who was raised in the Salvation Army Church in England. It most definitely will be a night of fun, celebration and good food. (I have it on good authority that it won’t be rubber chicken and wrinkled peas.)
Don’t miss this fabulous gala!
